A Message From Supervisor Kate Murray

Friends,

A Supervisor should never play favorites but when it comes to seasons of the year, I can’t hide my love of summer. With our beautiful ocean beaches and our refreshing community pools, summer finds our parks system looking better and brighter than ever.

Summer also plays host to some of the parks department’s most popular programs. Our Neighborhood Concert Series presents over 30 free evening performances and the Children’s Summer Festival welcomes three outstanding variety acts for weekly shows.

Summer is a veritable playground of activities for town youngsters. Our action-packed lacrosse academy has expanded its schedule of instruction and the Hofstra men’s and women’s basketball teams will visit town courts for fun-filled "Hoop It Up" clinics.

Mark your calendars for our official beach openings on Saturday, May 26, pool openings on Saturday, June 16 and our concert-fireworks spectacular starring Peter Noone on Saturday evening, June 30 at Point Lookout Beach.

From dawn’s first light when our golf courses tee-off, through late evening as the final note is played at a neighborhood concert, the action is round-the-clock at town parks. Flipping through the pages of the parks brochure will introduce you to all the people, places and things that help make summer so much fun in Hempstead Town.

Sincerely,

Kate Murray
Supervisor
