Golden-aged neighbors are invited to be a part of a "gold rush" of summer fun at Lido Beach Town Park. This year, the Town of Hempstead is celebrating a '49er summer to mark the 49th anniversary of the popular Summer Beach Program. The program runs Monday through Friday, June 27th through September 2nd (no weekends), from 10 AM to 3 PM, at Lido Beach Town Park, located at 630 Lido Blvd. in Lido Beach. Admission and parking are FREE, and free bus transportation is provided on appointed days from town senior centers.
Seniors, 60 years of age and better, can take part in Hempstead Town's 10-week Senior Summer Beach Program. An air-conditioned building houses organized activities, which include arts and crafts, painting, line dancing, fitness classes, movies and presentations on various topics. The highlight of each day is special live entertainment under the tent. Outdoors, enjoy picnicking and sing-alongs under the shade of the mushroom sun shelters, play a game of bocce or shuffleboard, or take a water aerobics class in the pool. Refreshments are available for purchase; participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch.
Please call the Department of Senior Enrichment at (516) 485-8100 for further details about the Summer Beach Program.
