Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray is calling on residents, schools, businesses and community organizations to nominate outstanding women for the town’s 2015 Pathfinder Awards. Held during National Women’s History Month, the Pathfinder Awards recognize the achievements of women who have made indelible impacts on their neighbors and communities.
“From teachers educating future generations, to those who volunteer their time to better their communities, women are ‘blazing a path’ for others to follow, and making the Town of Hempstead an even better place to live, work and raise family,” stated Murray. “We know there are many women out there making a difference, and we are asking town residents to help give them the recognition they so rightfully deserve.”
Women can be nominated for one of nine different categories, including Arts & Entertainment, Business, Community Affairs, Education, Health Services, High School Senior, Humanitarian, Volunteer and Town of Hempstead Employee. Nomination forms can be obtained by calling (516) 812-3303 or visiting www.toh.li and are due by Tuesday, February 10th. Nominees must live and/or work in the Town of Hempstead.
Supervisor Murray – a “pathfinder” in her own right as the first woman elected Supervisor in the 371-year history of the Town of Hempstead – will host the town’s annual Pathfinder Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 3 p.m. at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion at Hempstead Town Hall.
