The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and Cupid are inviting all local residents to attend “My Furry Valentine” on Saturday, February 14, 2015, a lovely event during which all pet adoptions are FREE!
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be no charge for adoptions, which include spaying/neutering, age appropriate vaccinations, microchipping and testing for heartworm and feline AIDS/leukemia. All adopters will also receive a special Valentine’s Day goody bag for their new four-legged sweetheart.
“We know that residents will fall in love with the cats and dogs we have here at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter,” said Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray. “Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to bring a new furry friend into your homes and hearts,” added Town Councilwoman Erin King Sweeney.
During this event, Animal Shelter staffers will act as “matchmakers” to help residents find the perfect cat or dog for them. Families are also invited to take a picture with Cupid and their newly adopted pets to remember the special day. Residents can enjoy classic love songs played by a professional violinist, and there will be a gift table for local children. Raffles will also be held to benefit the Tails of Hope Fund, which is used for surgeries on shelter dogs and cats.
The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. For more information, call the Shelter at (516) 785-5220 or visit www.toh.li/animal-shelter.
