Hempstead Town Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby will host the town’s 14th Annual Kwanzaa Celebration on Thursday, December 17, 2015, and all residents are invited to attend the holiday celebration. The event will be held at 4 p.m. in the Nathan L.H Bennett Pavilion at Hempstead Town Hall (1 Washington Street, Hempstead).
Councilwoman Goosby will celebrate the seven principles of Kwanzaa, and is encouraging guests to come dressed in their best African attire. Music will be provided by Rhythm of the Knight. The keynote address will be given by Rev. Malcolm Byrd of Jackson Memorial AME Zion Church. The evening’s honorees include Beatrice Bayley, Danilo and Melissa Archbold, Andrew Morris, Colton Wynter, Rev. Preston Drinks, James Hodges, Keith Burgess and Special Honoree James W. Merritte.
“For more than a decade, residents have come together to join in the joyous celebration of Kwanzaa here at Hempstead Town Hall,” stated Councilwoman Goosby. “I encourage neighbors to attend this wonderful event on December 17th.”
Councilwoman Goosby also thanked the event’s Platinum Sponsor, Parabit, which is based in Roosevelt.
