Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony J. Santino took another step to enhance and modernize communication with residents while increasing the municipality’s accessibility by launching the Town of Hempstead official Facebook page today.
“Hempstead Town will continue to enhance communication with neighbors. We’re excited to engage with residents on Facebook to make government more accessible. Partnering with this social media leader to provide rapidly responsive and effective municipal information online will help neighbors for years to come,” said Supervisor Santino.
The town already has an active Twitter account in place, @HempsteadTown, and residents may contact Supervisor Santino’s Helpline via the town’s website: http://www.toh.li/helpline to report their concerns.
The town Facebook page will drive awareness of municipal initiatives, services and programs as well as assist neighbors by seeking resolution of reported concerns.
Social media has become a key channel to help encourage meaningful dialogue and expand accessibility between municipal government and constituents. Facebook was particularly effective for Santino in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, helping to transmit vital information to neighbors seeking to recover and rebuild.
The Hempstead Town Facebook Page can be readily accessed by members of the public by going to Facebook.com and “liking” Town of Hempstead or click the Facebook link on www.toh.li.
