Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony J. Santino kicked off the Town of Hempstead’s 2016 March for Babies program during a “Team Captain” meeting today at Town Hall. Santino leads a team of more than 25 “captains” representing departments and divisions from across the Town of Hempstead that will raise money for the March of Dimes in an effort to spread awareness and benefit the organization’s work to protect the health of babies worldwide.

The meeting launched a nearly six-week effort that will culminate at the March for Babies walk hosted by the March of Dimes Long Island Division at Jones Beach State Park (Parking Field No. 5) on Sunday, May 1st at 10 a.m. (registration begins at 9 a.m.)

“I am proud of our continuing relationship with CSEA Local 880 and the March of Dimes in the fight against prematurity,” Santino said. “I look forward to leading our team of volunteers at the 2016 March for Babies Walk on May 1st.”

In partnership with CSEA Local 880 (Hempstead Town’s Employee Labor Union), this is Hempstead Town’s 18th year as a participant in the March of Dimes’ March for Babies Walk. The March of Dimes supports research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and ensure the birth of more healthy babies.

“At CSEA Local 880, we’re thrilled to work together with the dedicated Town of Hempstead team to help the efforts of March of Dimes in protecting the health of babies,” said CSEA Local 880 President Charlie Sellitto.  “We expect to have another successful year as we prepare for the March for Babies walk.”

Join the Town of Hempstead, and all of the March for Babies teams, for the walk on Sunday, May 1st at 10 a.m. at Jones Beach State Park, Parking Field No. 5. Registration begins at 9AM.

“I thank our dedicated employees, and their family members and friends for helping us protect the health of our babies by supporting the March of Dimes,” Santino said.
