Break out the wax and polish, Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony J. Santino invites you to the 11th Annual Seaside Spectacular Car Show on Saturday, September 17th at Town Park Point Lookout. The beachside event, sponsored by Merrick Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler and Ram of Wantagh, and Merrick Collision and Towing is Long Island’s largest collector’s car show, featuring hundreds of great cars, awards, live music and free giveaways for participants.
The event is open to cars 1991 and older and will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m., with a collector car check-in from 10 a.m. to noon. There is a $10 fee for each car entry, but no charge for spectators.
This year’s show will feature a special edition marquee section titled “It’s a Small World,” showcasing fashionable small cars, which will be headlined by Mini of Freeport. There will also be a special exhibit featuring H.R.E. Motorcars of Freeport as well. Be there to enjoy the live music provided by the band “Hocus Pocus” and Max 103.1 will be supplying extra entertainment throughout the day.
“The Seaside Spectacular Car Show makes for a great day with the family. Enjoy a day at the beach while viewing hundreds of vintage cars,” said Santino. “Get an entry form and reserve your space at Long Island’s premier car show as soon as you can.”
Each year, thousands of spectators enjoy the hundreds of vintage cars entered into the show. Car owners compete in 15 different categories, including classics, Corvettes, Cobras, American and foreign favorites and categories based upon age. The car show participants are the judges, awarding first, second, and third place prizes to the owners with the most votes. Also, the Arnie Levey “Best in Show” Award will be given to the owner whose car receives highest amount of votes in the Best in Show Category. The late Arnie Levey, one of the founders of the town’s car show, was an avid car collector and racing champion.
The first 400 cars to register will receive a free commemorative dashboard plaque. Although pre-registration ends on September 12th, car owners may also register on the day of the event from 10 a.m. to noon, but please note that space is limited. There is no charge for spectators and parking is free. Snacks, beverages, and ice cream will be available for purchase during the event. In the case of uncooperative weather, the rain date for the event will be on Sunday, September 18th.
Car Show applications can be obtained on the town’s website at www.toh.li or by calling the Office of Communications at (516)812-3496.
“Rev your engines and beat the rush,” Santino said. “Spots are limited, so the earlier you register the better. We’d like to thank our sponsors and look forward to our biggest show yet.”
