Golden autumn sunshine and refreshing ocean breezes create a perfect seaside setting for the Town of Hempstead’s Family Festival by the Sea on Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., in beautiful Lido Beach. Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony J. Santino invites residents and visitors alike to ride a wave of fun and excitement into Lido Beach Town Park for a weekend of live concerts, delicious food, craft and novelty vendors, sand sculptures, circus entertainers and great children’s shows.
“The Family Festival by the Sea is a great way to spend one last weekend in the sun at a great beachside location before autumn takes hold,” said Supervisor Santino. “From great food and music to entertaining children’s shows, the festival is fun for the whole family.”
On Saturday at 1p.m., you can satisfy your “appetite” for competition by getting a “taste” of the Clam and Wing Eating Contests. The competitive eating events are sponsored by Swingbelly’s of Long Beach and Pop’s Seaford Shack and Grill of Island Park. On tap for Saturday and Sunday, the festival’s highlights include stage shows, circus performers, animal acts, pony rides, a petting zoo and Cool Science exhibits. There will also be instructional tennis clinics sponsored by the United States Tennis Association at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The Family Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on both Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th. Lido Beach Town Park is located at 630 Lido Boulevard in Lido Beach. Admission and parking are FREE. For additional information, call the park at (516) 431-6650 or (516) 801-5647.
