Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony J. Santino and Councilman Gary Hudes presented a $25,000 grant check to the YES Community Counseling Center of Levittown. The non-profit organization offers school-based social work programs, drug/alcohol counseling and treatment, and a host of other important services to the community.
The grant was distributed through the town’s Department of Planning and Economic Development, and the monies have been secured through federal Community Development Block Grant funding.
“Supporting programs for the youth of our communities is crucial for the future of our township,” Santino said. “YES Community Counseling Center has offered vital services to both children and adults in Levittown for decades and we’re happy to assist the group with its endeavors.”
“We’re proud of this organization’s hard work and dedication to helping kids in our community,” said Hudes. “By providing the grant to YES Community Counseling Center, we are investing in our township’s future.”
YES was founded in 1977 to provide youths and their families with comprehensive programs to assist families to more effectively deal with stress and conflict, to reduce incidents of intra-family violence and create stability for families in crisis. The organization has grown throughout the years and now offers a wide range of counseling for children, adults and families, including drug addiction services to community members.
YES Community Counseling Center is located at 152 Center Lane in Levittown. For more information about YES, call (516) 719-0313 or visit www.yesccc.org.
“We’re thankful that there are groups like YES that provide outreach and counseling to neighbors in need,” Santino said. “The grant will assist this wonderful organization and the families that it serves.”
