Hempstead Town Seeks Nominations of Outstanding Volunteers for 21st Annual Make A Difference Awards

Hempstead Town is seeking residents' assistance in finding neighbors, relatives and friends who are always doing for others and never asking for anything in return. These are exactly the town residents that Hempstead Town wants to honor at the 21st Annual Make a Difference Awards, which will be held on May 23, 2017 at 7 p.m.

"The selfless work of volunteers has a positive influence on the lives of many neighbors in our community," said Supervisor Anthony J. Santino. "Hempstead Town is filled with numerous citizens who dedicate their lives to helping others. Now is the time to recognize these special individuals."

The town's Make a Difference Committee will select honorees who are residents of the Town of Hempstead to recognize for their extraordinary service. These are the people who, when you think about all they do, you may ask yourself, where does he or she get the energy or time to volunteer for so many activities?

Nominators are asked to supply a resume of a candidate’s community involvement and let the Make a Difference Committee know about the organizations with which the volunteer is involved. Please be sure to include the nominee’s full name, address and phone number as well as the name, address and phone number of the nominator. The candidate must be a Town of Hempstead resident.

Please send all resumes and documentation to: 2017 Make a Difference Awards, Office of Communications and Public Affairs, 1 Washington Street, Hempstead, New York 11550 by Friday, April 14, 2017.

"We are grateful to all those who will take the time to nominate those who go above and beyond in their daily lives and help make the Town of Hempstead a better place,” concluded Supervisor Santino.
