Gillen Orders Flags at Half Staff to Honor Florida Shooting Victims

Issued by: Town of Hempstead, Office of Supervisor Laura Gillen

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen ordered all flags at the Town’s public facilities to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Monday in honor of the shooting victims at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Our hearts go out to the young victims, their families, and all those that have been devastated by yet another mass shooting,” said Gillen. “While we take time to mourn this senseless and tragic loss of life, let us also take this time to reflect, so that we may be able to heal as a community and country.”

The White House also issued a national flag-order and proclamation.
