Town Of Hempstead Announces New Empire State Economic Development Funding Application And Forum For Residents

(HEMPSTEAD, NY) MAY 10, 2018 – Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen announced a regional economic development forum will be held for local residents and business leaders interested in applying for a piece of $750 million in New York State economic development funding on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 9:00am in the Town Hall Pavilion at 1 Washington St Hempstead NY 11550

Representatives from New York’s Economic Empire State Development Corporation will unveil and provide residents with an overview of the new Consolidated Funding Application process, before discussing a multitude of funding opportunities and answering questions.

The Consolidated Funding Application is a single online application whereby residents, small business owners, entrepreneurs and other drivers of the local economy can apply for funding resources designed to spur economic growth on the regional level through a ‘bottom-up’ approach. Applicants may be automatically eligible for funding from 30 programs across 11 state agencies.

“I applaud Governor Cuomo for helping streamline and expedite the grant application process, and I encourage business owners, or future business owners, to attend this important forum,” said Gillen. “Boosting economic development starts at the local level and these are opportunities that shouldn’t be missed.”

The Consolidated Funding Application for state funding is currently available to for-profit businesses, not-for-profit corporations, business improvement districts, local development corporations, public benefit corporations, economic development organizations, research and academic institutions, incubators, technology parks, municipalities, counties, regional planning councils, tourist attractions and community facilities.
