Hempstead Town Kicks Off Annual "Summer Of Love" Free Animal Shelter Adoptions

Issued by: Town of Hempstead, Office of Supervisor Laura Gillen

(HEMPSTEAD, NY) - Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen kicked off Town’s annual “Summer of Love,” whereby the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will waive all pet adoption fees, totaling about $100, during the ‘dog days of summer’ in order to promote higher adoption rates at the shelter.

The summer long event, which will run from June 2nd through September 2nd, will also include free rabies vaccinations and microchipping, as well as free spaying and neutering for all animals that are adopted.

“As the largest municipal animal shelter on Long Island, there are plenty of opportunities to give a loving cat or dog a forever-home," said Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen. "Saving one pet may not change the world, but it will surely change that pet's world forever."

Adopters can take a look at the shelter pets by visiting www.toh.li/animal-shelter or @TOHAnimalshelter on Facebook. For more information, call the shelter at 516-785-5220
