Town Clerk Sylvia A. Cabana to set up a donation box in Clerk's Office to help immigrant children recently affected by the humanitarian crisis in Texas

Issued by: Town Clerk, Sylvia A. Cabana

Hempstead Town Clerk Sylvia Cabana will be setting up a donation box in the Clerk’s Office to help immigrant children recently affected by the humanitarian crisis in Texas. We will be accepting any new items such as clothing, toiletries, baby supplies, books, toys and undergarments for children ages 1 – 17 years old.

Town Clerk Cabana stated, “As an Elected Official and most importantly the mother of two young children, I was heartbroken reading reports and seeing images of children torn from their families and being put in cages. I was thinking of ways I can make a difference and do something meaningful to assist these beautiful children. I immediately reached out to different organizations to see what types of supplies were needed. I was informed the children were in need of these basic items most people take for granted.”

If you would like to contribute, donations will be accepted at Town Clerk Cabana’s Office located in Town Hall, located at 1 Washington Street in Hempstead. For more information please contact a member of the Town Clerk’s staff at 516-812-3046. Donations will be made to the Catholic Charities Humanitarian Respite Center in McAllen, TX. The Press Conference will be held on the front steps of Town Hall on Tuesday, June 26th at 11:30A.M. All Elected Officials are invited to attend.
